Nest dived into the start of the busy season with a five install week, spreading the team around Europe. Take a look at what our team produced with our contractors and suppliers, and where they were in that week.
The very creative show, which is ‘Dmexco’ in Cologne is always a nice show to work at. Some great use of colour, technology and lighting here for DoubleVerify to make their stand very much turn heads at the show.
At the NEC, Birmingham we worked with our existing client Countrystyle for the reinstall of their stand at RWM (Renewable Waste Management). This is the sixth year working with the client at the show.
Over to London at the Excel for DSEI, a defence and security exhibition. Our existing client Gentex have a number of different helmet products and technologies they sell within the air, land and sea sectors. After conducting a debrief and asking how the show went, they responded “It was great, and we loved the stand. Thanks for all your assistance.” We look forward to working with the Gentex team for the next one.
Ormco who supply innovative solutions and support within the orthodontist sector of the dental industry, called upon Nest to design their space at the British Orthodontist Conference in Manchester. Creating a suitable space to meet face to face with visitors to the event.
At the RAI exhibition centre in Amsterdam our contractors installed our client existing system stand with new graphics, you’d never tell from this photo that it was constructed from a framework of aluminium system.

The Microlise Transport Conference is Europe’s largest transport conference with over 1,200 visitors from the industry. Nest Studios were appointed to design and manage the conference, exhibition and awards dinner which was held at Ricoh Arena, Coventry this year in May. The exhibition space incorporated high level branding highlighting each of the various zones, whilst the overall space included 21 double sided bespoke pods for exhibitor presence, 3 workshop setups, a press studio, demonstration areas as well as 3 large zones for gold sponsor spaces. The conference seated 1,200 attendees and featured a large stage, built backdrop for projected content to be displayed, as well as soft seating for speakers to conduct a Q&A session. After a successful event Nest have already started to discuss 2018 with Microlise….so watch this space.
Infosecurity Europe 2017 (otherwise known as Infosec), took place at Olympia London on 6th-8th June this year in the height of the busy exhibition season. Nest worked closely with existing clients to design, build and manage the delivery of their exhibition spaces at the event. Returning and building upon relationships with Egress, Algosec and Akamai.
Akamai took to the origins of their Hawaiian company name and used this theme to inspire the use of a cocktail bar and jet ski game to attract the passers by. While Egress and Algosec made use of demos, presentations, giveaways and games with competitions to portray their offerings and get visitors interacting.
The event features around 360 exhibitors and attracts approximately 13,000 visitors, who get the opportunity to experience a schedule of conference sessions and visit companies face-to-face who offer the latest services and products in the information security industry. Take a look at the masterpieces which our clients called their base during this three day event…..

Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry, organised by the GSMA and held in the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, 27 February – 2 March 2017
In 2017 we were proud to be working and supporting two new clients, Channel VAS and Akamai and an existing client for the 3rd year, inew.
The largest project we undertook was for Akamai, they are the global leader in Content Delivery Network (CDN) services, making the Internet fast, reliable and secure for its customers.
Nest Studios were appointed to design and build their hospitality stand after successfully pitching against 18 other agencies.
Due to moving into Hall 2 a new approach compared to previous years had to be considered with controlled access into the space and mainly hospitality driven activity.
The outer structure was inspired by Akamai’s vast server network, this was further enhanced with chasing LED lighting to show data flow. Once into the interior space, an open and professional look and feel was achieved using high quality materials and lighting. The demo and lounge area where designed with various activations including two hands-on demos with experts, self discovery areas using iPads and a dual screen touch table to show company literature and web assets.
Hospitality and meeting areas included two low lounge, four large meeting rooms with digital whiteboards.
In conclusion, Nest Studios were successful in delivering a modern hospitality, demo and meeting space. We are already talking about ideas for next year’s stand and we have also recently successfully worked with the UK team on the first of two projects as part of Akamai’s overall global events programme.
Another talented egg has been added to the Nest, for the second time this year the team has expanded by appointing Paul Birtwhistle as Senior 3D Designer.
Paul graduated from Salford University in 2007 with a BA(Hons) degree in Interior Design. He then developed his skills within bar, hotel and restaurant design for a couple of years before joining an exhibition design and build company where he worked his way up from a junior designer to leading a creative team and delivering pitches for clients globally.
Paul said, “Nest has creativity at the heart of its business and it excites me to be joining such a forward thinking team. I look forward to pushing those design boundaries further and delivering outstanding projects for our clients.”

September saw the return of Dmexco, the annual digital marketing exhibition and conference which is held in Cologne, Germany. Nest were happy to be invited to design and build for existing clients AppNexus and Pubmatic at the show. It was the second year in a row the team managed projects at the event. Leaders of the industry were spread across various halls within the venue, showcasing latest offerings and making use of meeting spaces to get face-to-face with delegates. Farnborough International Airshow 2016 took place between 11th-17th July, with the first five days dedicated to trade and the weekend for public airshows. A host of well known faces attended the show including David Cameron on his last day as prime minister pictured with Richard Branson who arrived on the latest Virgin aeroplane.
Nest worked with existing clients Senior Aerospace and Gentex Corporation as well as new client Shimtech, to deliver their stand space. The stands included a mixture of latest technologies, special lighting effects, modern furniture, rotating turntable displays and a mixture of different graphic effects including illuminated 3D logos and full height light boxes.
Hillhead is the biggest event of it’s kind in the world. Situated within a working quarry it allows exhibitors to put their equipment through it’s paces within a live quarry environment.
Nest have been working with Finning CAT for the past 6 years and were again asked to deliver a professional, experiential environment for Finning CAT to demonstrate it’s latest range of equipment and supporting technologies.
Along with live and static displays of new equipment, Finning was also launching ‘Our Promise’; part of a new customer charter which makes a series of key commitments as part of Finning’s focus on delivering a consistent, positive customer experience.
The challenge to Nest was to create a space where Finning could communicate ‘Our Promise’, showcase new technologies, create a space for meetings and also a platform to watch the live machine demonstrations. We also needed to ensure that we didn’t alienate historical clients with too much focus on ‘tech’.
Our solution was a large 2 tier structure with terraces. The ground floor had a relaxed cafe feel and plenty of visibility and natural light to be able to view the static machine displays.
The space included demonstration technology such as virtual reality headsets which demonstrated new machinery and put the participant into the cabin of new machines and large interactive touchscreen walls. There were also several interactive zones, a specific zone for the new customer charter and a demo area showcasing their new ‘Redbird’ drone technology.
The first floor was invite only and had a distinctly different feel to the ground floor. Designed as a hospitality lounge the first floor included a working kitchen, self service coffee area and large plasma screens. The space also led out to a 1st floor terrace with the perfect view of the live machine demonstrations at the quarry face.
Customers could be greeted at the entrance to the booth via an outdoor reception area and led through the entire customer journey – from machine demo’s through informal discussions over a coffee to lunch and more in depth meetings on the VIP floor.
The overall structure was wrapped in a dynamic graphic with simple, clear messaging: ‘Connecting you to smarter solutions’.
